The 52-year-old who beat another man nearly to death at a party in New Philadelphia will spend the next four to six years in prison.
Tuscarawas county common pleas court judge Elizabeth Thomakos ordered the punishment for Jerry Davis, noting his numerous misdemeanor convictions and self-reported substance use history beginning with marijuana at age 5.
Davis was tried and found guilty of felonious assault for the December 28th attack that resulted in a 12-day hospital stay.
Both men were intoxicated and had gotten into an altercation after Davis made a pass at the victim’s girlfriend. He told Thomakos he was sorry for what happened.
