Mareta Dawn Albrecht, 58, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, May 25, 2026, in the comfort of her own home following a five year battle with cancer.

A daughter of the late Charles R. Adams Sr. and Melverna A. Adams, Mareta was born on April 15, 1968, in Massillon, Ohio.

Mareta was a 1986 graduate of Massillon Christian High School. On May 21, 1988, she married the love of her life, Timothy Albrecht. They had 3 daughters, Taneka, Shay and Joliena. Their family moved to Kansas in 2001. Mareta later attended Kansas City Kansas Community College and received her nursing degree in 2010 where she worked at The University of Kansas Hospital for 4 years. Mareta and her family moved back to Ohio in 2013, where she worked at Ohio’s Hospice in New Philadelphia for 12 years.

Mareta devoted most of her life caring for others. She was a loving mother, daughter, friend, and “Nonni”. Being a Nonni was one of the greatest joys of her life. She loved her grandchildren with her whole heart and had a special bond with each of them.

Mareta’s faith was the foundation of her life. Her faith touched everyone around her through the love and care she showed each day. In her final moments, she passed peacefully, surrounded by the same comfort that her faith had given her throughout her life.

Mareta also had a love for travel. In her last five years of life, she tried to fulfill as much in her bucket list as possible. Places she hoped to see, experiences she wanted to enjoy, and memories she wished to make with the people she loved most.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Adams Sr. and Melverna Adams.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy Albrecht; her daughters, Taneka (Robert) Butler, Shay (Carter) Page, Joliena (Jacob) Davis; her grandchildren, Lincoln, Cason, Charlotte, Oliver, and one on the way (Emelia); her siblings, Charles Adams Jr. and Robin Adams-Weber; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

A celebration of Mareta’s life will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Authentic Church, 201 Stonecreek Rd NW, New Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Mareta’s church, Authentic Church.
