Margaret Ruth McGill, 86, of Bowerston, Ohio, passed away at Trinity Hospital Twin City in Dennison on Monday, November 11, 2024, after a period of declining health. Born January 1, 1938, in her family’s farmhouse near Bowerston, she was the first child born in Harrison County in 1938 and the second child born to the late Coral Mason Wyant and Phoebe Ethel (Huff) Wyant.
After her 1956 graduation from Conotton Valley High School, Margaret Ruth married Kenneth Dale McGill on June 9, 1957 – beginning her life’s work as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Kenneth preceded her in death on September 7, 2013, after 56 years of loving marriage. They were blessed with a daughter, Beverly K. McGill who died in 2016; two sons, Kenneth L. (companion, Deidre L. Machesny) McGill and Paul E. (girlfriend, Natasha M. Harding) McGill who survive her; and four grandchildren, Jeffrey, James, Montana, and Autumn McGill. In addition to her parents, husband, and daughter, she was preceded in death by her infant brother, Loren Wyant.
Margaret Ruth was a lifelong Methodist who had been a longtime member of Trinity Methodist Church in Bowerston where she had sung in the choir for many years and had served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in a variety of capacities. Most recently, she had attended Leesville Methodist Church. She loved being a farm wife, taking care of her animals – especially her dogs, and had been a member of the Bowerston Women’s Club.
Pastor Jerralyn Myers will officiate an 11:00 a.m. funeral on Monday, November 18, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow beside her beloved husband and daughter at Longview Cemetery in Bowerston. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Those wishing to honor her memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to the charity of their choice.
