Marilyn J. Hutchison, age 99, of New Philadelphia, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.

Born in Ragersville, Ohio on December 30, 1923, Marilyn was one of nine children born to the late John and Edith Knecht Berger.

She was a 1941 graduate of the former Shanesville High School and attended Business School at Starr Business Institute. During World War II, Marilyn worked as a “Rosie the Riveter” in Akron where she helped build PBY and B-16 planes. Professionally, Marilyn worked in the Payroll Department at the former Alsco factory in Sugarcreek and prior to her retirement worked as a secretary for Attorney Richard Goforth.

She was a former member of the Ragersville Church of Christ and a longtime member of the United Church of Christ in New Philadelphia. She was a gifted Soprano singer and enjoyed playing the piano and organ. She also loved playing Bingo and listening to music, as well as sewing. Above all, she loved attending any activity that involved her children and grandchildren.

She will be missed by her children, Kenny (Mallory) Hutchison, Marla Hutchison all of New Philadelphia, and Sharman (Rick) Sullivan of North Lawrence; a daughter-in-law, Martha Hutchison of Dover; eight grandchildren, Amy (Brad) McDougal, Chad (Ashley) Hutchison, Shane Hutchison, Deidre (Rich) Schweitzer, David (Kelly) McLandsborough, John McLandsborough, and Courtney McLandsborough, 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Tena (Ray) Mathias, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her siblings, Roland, Lolabell, Frank, Linda, Fern, June, and Celesta; a son, Doug Hutchison, and four grandchildren, Brian Hutchison, Kelly Fankhauser, Jenny McLandsborough, and Douglas M. Hutchison.

The family will greet guests on Saturday, June 10, 2023, from 12:30 – 1:30 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where Pastor Brian Flood will lead a celebration of Marilyn’s life in the funeral home’s chapel at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
