
Mark was an accomplished athlete throughout high school. His relay team has held the record for the 1600m relay since 2002. His photo is on the wall at Newcomerstown High School for being awarded All Ohio in track in 2002.
Mark proudly served our country as a member of the Army National Guard from 2006 to 2012. He served on a search and rescue team. He helped rebuild community buildings in Serbia and also Mississippi during Hurricane Katrina. He was a member of the Full Gospel Temple.
On March 19, 2018, Mark married his wife, Ralin McCoun, who survives. Mark was a dedicated father, husband, son, brother, and friend. Mark was quietly suffering from a heart condition he kept even from his immediate family until very recently.
In addition to his wife Ralin, Mark is survived by his children, Cadence, Mark Alexander, Alyssa, Shannon, Ariya, Bradley, Gavin, and Willow McCoun; grandmother, Sylvia Simms; brother, Jesse (Kasi) McCoun; sister, Heidi (Matthew) Miller; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, dear friends, and a community that loved him dearly.
Mark was preceded in death by his daughter, Avery McCoun; nieces, Morgan and Jessy Jo McCoun; uncles, John Simms, Kester Simms, Tim McCoun; grandparents, Howard Simms, Donald and Nancy McCoun; and his brother by heart, Shannon Bennington.
Services for Mark will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Addy Funeral Home in Newcomerstown with Pastor Bruce Colvin officiating. Burial will follow at Plainfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, from 11 to 1 at the funeral home.
