Marlene Gerber, 85, of Sugarcreek passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Joel Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg following a period of declining health.
Born in Ragersville on June 7, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Weldon and Helen (Rippl) Yackley. Marlene married D. Dean Gerber on March 25, 1956. He died on December 25, 2011.
She retired from Alsco in Sugarcreek and was a member of the Shanesville Lutheran Church and Ragersville Historical Society.
Marlene is survived by her three sons Todd (Valerie) Gerber of Sugarcreek, Kevin (Jill) Gerber and Bryan (Karen) Gerber both of North Canton. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Aaron (Cara) Gerber, Katie (Jon) King, Brittany (Jeff Horning) Gerber, Brek (Susan) Gerber, Caitlyn (Michael) Smith, Hailey (Michael) Marfield, and Ashton Gerber; great grandchildren Lucas Gerber, Micah Gerber, Emma Gerber, Layla Gerber, Isaac Gerber; Myiah Marfield, Hudson Marfield, Avery Smith, Trey Smith, Dillon King, and Annabelle King; her siblings Gerald “Bud” (Beverly) Yakley of Sugarcreek, Carrie (Keith) Clipson of Vermillion, and Joel (Patty) Yakley of Ragersville; and sister-in-law Janie Yakley of Millersburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a grand daughter Heather Lynne Gerber; and brother Larry “Butch” Yakley.
Services for Marlene will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 11:00 am at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Pastor Barb DeBord officiating. Burial will follow at Ragersville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, May 8, 2023 from 4 to 7 pm.
