Marlene H. Schwartz, 92, of Dover passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Ohio’s Hospice Truman House.
She was born on August 8, 1931, in Canton to the late M.C. and Helen Klein Geckler. Marlene was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene R.”Reifie” Schwartz on September 25, 2010, and a brother, Dwight Geckler.
After serving the Dover City Schools as a Bus Driver for 16 years until her retirement in 1990, she touched the lives of many with her warm smile and caring nature. Her commitment to her community extended beyond her work, as she was also a cherished member of the Churc of the New Hope in Dover.
In her leisure time, Marlene found solace in camping adventures with her beloved husband. They were active members of the Tusco Travelers and the Good Sam Club “Roadrunners” Chapter 70, where they forged lasting friendships within the international camping community. Additionally, she had a creative spirit and took delight in crafting beautiful pieces.
Marlene will be deeply missed by her surviving family members: children Mega (Jim) Snyder of New Philadelphia and Gary Schwartz of Dover; grandchildren Jami (Kurt) Vandock, Ryan (Korie) Haswell; great grandchildren, Juliana and Jensen Vandock, and Bexley and Callaway Haswell.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Per Marlene’s wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
