Marvin R. Shoup, 74, of Sugarcreek, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Majora Lane in Millersburg following a period of declining health.
He was born in Wayne County on December 7, 1947, to the late Melvin and Fannie (Kuhns) Shoup and married Carol J. Immel on April 13, 1968. She died on March 27, 2001. He married Ella Stutzman on February 14, 2004, and she survives.
Marvin is retired from farming and Shoup’s Lawn Care. He is a member of Walnut Creek Mennonite Church.
In addition to his wife Ella, he is survived by his children, Dwight (Kathy) Shoup of Sugarcreek, Kirsten (Randall) Schlabach of Mt. Eaton, and Craig (Joan) Shoup of Lebanon, PA; 6 grandchildren, Micah (Sarah) Shoup, Katelyn Shoup, Jenna Shoup, Anya Schlabach, Emma Schlabach, and Jeremiah Schlabach; was waiting for the arrival of his first great-grandchildren in December; siblings, Doyle Shoup of New Philadelphia, Kenneth Shoup of Mt. Eaton, and Lester (Janet) Shoup of Berlin, Delores (Ernie) Raber, Doris Shoup, and Pauline Shoup all of Mt. Eaton ; and sister-in-law, Sharon Shoup of Orrville.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Carol Shoup, he is preceded in death by his brother, Milton D. Shoup; sister-in-law, Sara Shoup; nephews, Michael Shoup and Stanley Shoup; and great nephew, Noah Shoup.
Services will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at 2 PM at Walnut Creek Mennonite Church with Pastor Matt Yoder officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 5-7 PM and Sunday from 1-2 PM prior to services all at the Church. Memorials may be made to donor’s favorite charity. Arrangements are being handled by Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek.
