Mary Catherine Corso, 91, of Dennison, formerly a longtime resident of the Tappan Lake area, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Hennis Care Centre in Dover, after a long and blessed life. Born October 11, 1931 in Cadiz, she was the eldest daughter of the late William Paul Luther, Sr. and Catherine (Kastner) Luther-Klug.

Mary grew up in Cadiz and was a 1949 graduate of Cadiz High School before earning her degree from Pittsburg Business College which prepared her for her career of more than 30 years as an administrator for her family’s business, Luther’s Builder Supply in Cadiz. Mary’s most cherished role was that of being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her deep faith and her commitment to Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison where she spent countless hours in worship, singing in the choir, and serving in the Altar Society. She enjoyed visiting many different shrines throughout her life and was a devoted friend to many priests and nuns.

On November 23, 1957, Mary wed Richard Angelo Corso with whom she enjoyed nearly 50 years of marriage until his passing on December 30, 2006. Together, they raised five children, Christopher Corso of Dennison, Ohio, Michael (Linda) Corso of Ft. Worth, Texas, Kelly Corso of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Scott (Evelyn) Corso of Ft. Worth, Texas, who survive her, and Carl Corso who preceded her in death. She was also blessed to have 8 grandchildren, Lonn Allen (deceased), Myron, Catherine, Richard, William, Rachel, Angelina, and Tyler, and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly survived by her sisters, Elizabeth (Myron) Fledderus and Dorothy Luther; sister-in-law, Anna Mae Luther; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of dear friends, many of whom knew her as “Aunt Mary”. In addition to her parents, husband, and son, she was preceded in death by two siblings, William Luther, Jr., and Teresa Luther.

Father Jeff Coning and Father Dale Tornes will celebrate the funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23, at Immaculate Conception Church. She will be interred beside her beloved husband in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will begin with a Rosary devotion at 4:00 p.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Church’s Memorial Book Fund and its Altar Society.
