The ADAMHS Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll counties is highlighting its mission to break the stigma and build support during Mental Health Awareness Month.

Manager of Community Services Leslie Korns says it’s a time to promote that all mental health struggles are unique, but there are many resources available to build strength.

“Promote where to go get help as well as recognizing and trying to normalize that most people have some degree of mental health struggles. Whether it be small stressors to large traumas.”

Korns says one way to overcome feelings of loneliness or isolation can involve volunteering for an area non-profit or organization of interest to gain a sense of connection and cooperation.

“To find people that have a shared passion it just creates a synergy that comes together, and people are ready and motivated to work toward this collective goal, and it feels good.”

The ADAMHS Board also continues to prioritize suicide prevention services, including the 988 Lifeline to call or text for free one-on-one assistance, or the local crisis line 330-343-1811.
