Gwen Rummell Reporting –
In a recent New Philadelphia council meeting, Mayor Joel B. Day commended Officer Mark Sadolsky for his life-saving action.
On the evening of July 12, just after 8 pm, New Philadelphia Police and Fire Departments were called to a duplex fire on Southwood Drive SW. The en route departments received an update with information that two children and the family dog were trapped on the porch roof.
Officer Sadolsky was the first to arrive at the scene and talked the children into jumping off the roof to him. No injuries were sustained.
Major Day said the City of New Philadelphia is grateful to have members, like Officer Sadolsky, whose dedication keeps the city safe.
“In the words of Captain David Morris, “The bravery and commitment to protecting and serving the citizens of this city was unmatched that day.” We are proud and honored to have individuals like Mark Sadolsky serving and protecting the citizens of New Philadelphia.”
At the conclusion of his report, Mayor Day presented Officer Sadolsky with the Certificate of Commendation.
