Gwen Rummell Reporting –

The City of Uhrichsville will cast their votes to decide their next mayor on Election Day.

The race will feature Jim Zucal and Suzanne Bower, both looking to replace Mayor Mark Haney.

After her move back to the city, 13 years ago, Bower says she came across many residents who are unhappy with the communication from administration. If elected, she would like to improve contact with the community, including updating the website.

“I would like to bring about better transparency by making the website more comprehensive, more current, and more user-friendly so [it’s] easier for people to access it to find out information, which is supposed to be public, but is, unfortunately, is difficult to find.”

Bower plans to have open office hours and allow for appointments for residents with concerns.

Zucal, who has served as At Large on the council, sees the opportunity for mayor as a way to better serve the community.

“You’re either part of the problem or part of the solution. I want to be a part of the solution so I want to provide sound leadership, good direction, focus on what’s good in Uhrichsville, and provide the avenues of experience I have and contact base to get things done.”

Zucal, if elected, wants to clean up the town and resolve issues with the Dennison Tax Sharing Agreement.

Polls will open on Tuesday, November 7th at 6:30 am and close at 7:30 pm.
