Mary Alice Reporting –

Following a decline in revenue, the contractor for the BMV site in the City of Uhrichsville has decided to not renew the contract and two mayors are working on a solution.

According to the Ohio BMV, the Deputy Registrar location completed just over 36,500 transactions in 2023, which is among the lowest in the state. Due to this and other factors, the contractor, the Twin City Chamber of Commerce, can no longer effectively operate the agency. Accordingly, the BMV has decided not to seek proposals for this location at this time.

In a joint press release, Dennison Mayor Greg DiDonato and Uhrichsville Mayor Jim Zucal noted that they are working on possible solutions to keep the business open. Actions taken so far include reaching out to State Representative Brett Hillyer and Ohio Senator Al Landis to investigation any available options.

According to the mayors, they were notified of the revenue losses in October 2023 and noted that many residents would be impacted by this closing, set to occur toward the end of April.
