The Dover Public Library is venturing into politics by hosting a “Meet the Candidates Night” for on Monday for the first time in recent memory.

Director Jim Gill says others have suggested the library, as a non-partisan source for information, host this type of event.

“We don’t have a dog in the fight. We just want people to know what candidates are out there and on the ballot.”

The library has invited candidates for county offices, Southern District Court Judge and state representative.

“Some of these positions are unopposed. Some of the candidates are able to come and some are not able to come.”

Gill stresses that Monday’s event is not a debate. Candidates will introduce themselves, talk about their goals and then mingle with the public for one-on-one questions and answers. “Meet the Candidates Night” starts at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of the Dover Public Library.
