Nick McWilliams reporting – As plans move forward with an extension of the Towpath Trail through New Philadelphia, the city wants to hear from residents.

Representatives with the Ohio and Erie Canalway Coalition are set to meet with officials from New Phila to discuss the plans for the extension on Monday, June 19th at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at the John Knisely Municipal Building.

As a part of the meeting, residents who live in Ward 1 of the city are invited to attend and offer their input on the proposed path.

Currently, the path has been planned to extend from Waterworks Park down Front Avenue SW, 7th Street SW, and Union Avenue NW on the way to link up with the city of Dover.

Residents in attendance will be asked about their thoughts on the route, alignment of the trail, and proposed bicycle facilities on roads along the path.

When completed, the trail will connect New Phila to Cuyahoga County and the outskirts of Cleveland, running through Zoar, Bolivar, and Massillon on its way northward.
