Michelle Evon “Shelley” Cummings-Orr, 54, of Gnadenhutten, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, after suffering complications from a stroke. Born February 18, 1969 in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late William Michael “Mike” Cummings and Darlene Ann (Mason) Deline .

Shelley lived in the Twin City area for much of her life and was a 1987 graduate of Claymont High School. She had worked for the U.S. Postal Service for a number of years and had most recently been employed by Ember Home Healthcare as a home health aide. Above all else, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who delighted in her family. She will be remembered for her delicious cooking, especially the wonderful cookies she loved to bake. She also enjoyed camping and fishing, and she was a member of the Uhrichsville Moose.

On February 2, 2011, Shelley married Edward A. Orr, Jr. who survives her at their home. She is also survived by her daughters, Emma Orr, Ashley (Eric) Anderson, and Kaitlynn Proper-Orr; son, Cameron Proper-Orr; granddaughter, Charlee; sisters, Michelle (Steve) McPeek, Taneka (Brandon) Cummings-Bates, Melissa (Alan) Maffo, and Kendra Zelaya; brothers, Michael Cummings and Richard “Buzz” (Dianna) Cummings; numerous nieces and nephews; parents-in-law, Ed and Cheryl Orr; and sister-in-law, Leslie (Terry) Corpman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Hunter Orr; step mother, Denise Bloom-Keffer; and sister-in-law, Lisa Orr.

Pastor Ben Smith will officiate her funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 3, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery in Gnadenhutten. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
