The New Philadelphia State Highway Patrol responded to a Sunday crash that turned fatal for the driver.
A report notes the one-vehicle crash occurred on Tall Timber Road, in Fairfield Township, at approximately 5:45pm.
OSP notes that a 2010 Ford Escape, operated by 66-year-old Richard Deardorff, of Mineral City, was traveling northbound before crossing the center line and going off the roadway. The vehicle struck a culvert and utility pole.
Deardorff was transported to Aultman Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
A 62-year-old passenger was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Assisting at the scene was Mineral Sandy Fire Department, Fairfield Township Fire Department, and Regional EMS.
