Five tornadoes have been confirmed from Friday, and one touched down at Leesville Lake.

From the storms, a small section of southern Carroll County experienced a brief water spout, according to the National Weather Service. Reported damage was an uprooted tree. The storm swept through the Leesville Lake South Fork Marina area at approximately 1:30pm.

Preliminary survey results indicate the max width was 40 yards, the path length was 0.25 miles, and peak winds reached 80 mph. Based upon that speed, NWS says the twister was an EF-0, with GIS maps indicating it reaching EF-1 status at one point.

NWS Pittsburgh reports that with Friday’s tornado confirmations, in their county reporting area, there have been a total of 14 touchdowns in the month of May. This surpasses the 11 tornadoes from the 1985 outbreak, in their geographical area, for the most on record in the same month.
