Gwen Rummell Reporting –

“Creating Community” was the topic of focus at a Tuesday Ohio Mid-Eastern Governments Association meeting.

The keynote speaker of the board meeting was Coshocton’s own Miss Ohio Madison Miller.

Miller started by stating she learned in her journey as Miss Ohio that creating communities is not simply having networking opportunities or attending meetings.

“This is something that is unique to all of our small communities and something that I am proud of our small communities. Creating communities has nothing to do with the meetings that we have or the people who are in them.”

Miller followed by underscoring the dedication that community leaders have for trying to better serve their communities.

“The community that you all have created, the resources, [and] the empowerment opportunities might seem like a simple signature on a paper, a day-to-day activity, but it’s not. You are creating opportunities and stepping stones for people like me.”

Miller wrapped up her speech by thanking all the people who are a part of or working with OMEGA.
