Nick McWilliams reporting – A mobile home in New Philadelphia suffered damage as the result of a midday fire Thursday.

The New Philadelphia Fire Department was toned out around 11:35 a.m. for a burn complaint due to smoke being seen in the area, which was upgraded before crews left the fire house due to it being discovered the smoke was coming from a mobile home on 11th Street.

Captain Robert Snyder says that fire departments from Dover and Uhrichsville were also toned out due to being upgraded to an active structure fire with an off-duty unit in the area notifying the department, with the blaze quickly contained.

“At that time, we started giving assignments to the different groups. Everyone arrived on scene at 11:41 a.m. By the time we had hose lines in place it was 11:45, and the fire was out by 11:47.”

Snyder says that dwellings are very close to each other in the neighborhood, and there were concerns of an exposure fire.

Units cleared the mobile home and determined no one was at home at the time of the fire, and that the cause is being ruled accidental and undetermined, but could have been potentially electrical in nature.
