Semiquincentennial celebrations will happen in Ohio, and a major event is in Tuscarawas County.
The America 250 – Ohio commission was formed to get all 88 counties involved in this year’s anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Events and monthly themes are planned across the state.
Commission Executive Director Todd Kliesment says one of those includes a two-day festival at the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum.
“In April its Transportation and Ohioan know Ohio has contributed so much by means of transportation and one of the big highlights we’ll have is in Tuscarawas County to have what we call the 250 Buckeye Train.”
Other monthly themes include Ohio Goes to the Movies, celebrating the states contribution to outdoor recreation, and recognizing those who serve on the frontlines.
Kliesment encourages all to get involved in recognition of this year’s anniversary.
“I think 2026 creates this once in a generation opportunity to reflect on and to really learn some new things what Ohio and Ohioans have contributed to the United States.”
