New Philadelphia officials are looking at the next round of enhancements to the Southside Community Park.
Mayor Joel Day says phase 2 of the park’s construction will pick up this year as the city seeks federal grants to finish the road to the high school soccer fields, where construction with start on the restrooms and pavilion for that side.
Day also wants to make it easier for pedestrians to get to the park from South Broadway. This hope is to put in a sidewalk from Springbook Drive to the entrance, but there’s township land in the way that’s preventing it from happening.
The plans also call for adding a maintenance garage.
Restrooms at the soccer fields will be done over the next 14 months.
