Mosquito spraying continued this week as health officials report more positive cases of West Nile Virus in mosquitoes in Tuscarawas County.
The County Health Department says the positive tests came from mosquito samples in Dover – one on Crater Avenue by Park Village Health Care and one on East Iron Avenue by the health department – that were collected on July 22nd. New Philadelphia city had a positive West Nile test in a mosquito pool near Bluebell Drive Northwest and Front Avenue Southwest.
County Health Commissioner Katie Seward says it sounds like area residents are getting fed up with mosquitoes this summer.
She says people can take steps to prevent being bitten, like wearing insect repellent and emptying standing water to limit breeding grounds.
Health officials say 80 percent of people with West Nile virus do not develop symptoms. Worse cases can last for weeks or months.
