Throughout the over one-hour City of Uhrichsville Council meeting, held Thursday, a lot was discussed including a special recognition and an alley vacate.

Several committee meeting minutes were read asking for further consideration of items like raising more awareness about city ordinances, researching for a possible cannabis ordinance, how McCauley Drive could be further developed, and the need for more single family housing.

Uhrichsville officials also talked about applying for OMEGA funding and they approved an alley vacation for Campbell Oil as they look to revitalize their gas station.

Councilwoman Leigh Ann McCray also presented a special recognition to Marrow Tax Service for being in business for 55 years.

McCray also asked what they city was doing to raise funding for the LoveTusc sculpture project, as they are about $3,000 behind being fully funded.

Meanwhile, Mayor Jim Zucal said he is still searching for a service director, and while the individual doesn’t need to live in city limits it would be preferred.

Other items mentioned was for council to look over the proposed paving list, getting more involved with the Twin City Chamber of Commerce Economic Committee and getting meetings back on Zoom. Zucal also thanked Police Chief Vince Beal and Captain Brandon McCray for their involvement in the D.A.R.E. education program.

The next Uhrichsville Council meeting is scheduled for April 11th at 7pm.
