The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District approved grants to eight organizations for flooding and water quality improvements.
The grant program, Partners in Watershed Management (PWM), provides grants for projects throughout the 18 counties within the MWCD.
For the most recent projects, more than $900,000 will be distributed and among them is the Tappan Lake modeling for algal bloom reduction project, which will be a study of internal and local issues contributing to the blooms at the lake.
Other projects went to the Ashland Soil and Water Conservation District for a small scale no-till seeder, the Ohio State University is set to restore 11 acres of riverside forest and grassland, and Licking Township was awarded dollars for the Cranberry Lane culvert replacement.
