The second storybook trail in the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District is up at Atwood Lake.
At a ribbon cutting over the weekend Dylan Sayre, MWCD’s Trails Coordinator, says this trail starts near the park’s event center.
“This is a paved trail throughout the park, so whether people are going between camping areas, using it for exercise, or they have the kids along they can read the story along the way. It just gives them another reason to use the trail.”
Prior to this trails official opening, Sayre unveiled a 20-year construction plan as MWCD looks to add more walking paths across their parks. He says adding extras will happen along the way.
“Things that go on those trails, so whether it’s nature play or storybook trails or whatever amenity it is that can be added afterwards you won’t really see that in the plan. It’s just something extra that we’re doing. We looked forward to doing more projects like this and we’re excited.”
The other MWCD storybook trail is available at Seneca Lake Park.
