Mary Alice Reporting – As a way to enhance an individual’s stay at campsite, pets are now available on the property and in some lake cabins.
The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District made the announcement ahead of the summer season as travelers bring their pets with them.
MWCD noticed the increase demand and a review of their rules occurred related to pet restricted areas, which are no long listed, making their campsites fully per-friendly.
Pets are invited to all park areas, however, they still need to be on a leash and owners need to clean up after the pet, and those not in compliance will be asked to vacate the park.
Atwood Park is currently the only location with a dog park but MWCD is looking at future site developments at their other locations. Additionally, select cabins at each lake will allow pets which includes a non-refundable $50 per pet fee.
Some tips when bringing a well-behaved pet to one of MWCD’s parks include ensuring vaccinations and registration is up-to-date, bringing a water bowl and food, outside toys, clean-up bags, and other necessities.
