Work is about to get underway on the new 6.3-million-dollar Tappan Lake regional safety center.
The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District is providing nearly 5.6 million dollars for the facility that slated to open in September of next year on land off US 250 near the Pleasant Valley Church.
MWCD director of marketing/ communications Adria Bergeron says it’ll include a new ranger training center, space for Tappan’s volunteer fire department, classroom spaces and more for the local police and fire departments to utilize.
Bergeron says medical helicopters will also be able to land and take off from it.
The project was also awarded a 650-thousand-dollar Ohio township services community improvement funds grant. The Tappan Lake volunteer fire department is also contributing 100-thousand dollars toward the project.
