Nancy E. Keplinger, age 83, of rural Scio, Ohio, went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully from her home on Friday morning, September 13, 2024, while surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born February 23, 1941, in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Hubert Vincent and Hannah Eleanor (Burnworth) Burnsworth. Nancy devoted her life to Jesus, her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her nursing career.

Nancy graduated from nurse’s training at Aultman Hospital and spent her career in California where she led an effort to establish an intensive care unit within the hospital.  She later moved to Ohio where she specialized in cardiac nursing in the Intensive Care Unit of Union Hospital at Dover. Nancy was a member of and worshipped at the New Vine Baptist Church in Malvern, OH.

Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Nancy was aware of her love of Gospel and Bluegrass music, and her gifted talent on the piano.  Nancy routinely provided musical accompaniment for sermons delivered by her late husband Rev. Marion “Gene” Keplinger.  No family gathering was complete without her leading a music session on her piano for her family to accompany and enjoy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Rev. Marion E. “Gene” Keplinger, whom she married December 2, 1962, a son and daughter-in-law Christopher Eugene and Linda Arlene Keplinger, a brother Wayne A. Burnsworth and an infant brother Hubert V. Burnsworth.

She is survived by two sons, Timothy (Joanne) Keplinger of Troy, Montana and David (Brenda) Keplinger of New Philadelphia, OH, a daughter, Angela Keplinger of Scio, a sister Mrs. Carol (Jim) Henry of Tippicanoe, OH, 12 grandchildren and 16 great- grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in the Sherrodsville Wesleyan Church with her son Rev. Tim Keplinger and Rev. Steven Gilreath officiating.  Interment will follow in the Leavittsville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville.
