Nancy L. Roth, age 88, of Gnadenhutten, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, at her daughter’s residence in Tiffin, Ohio.
Born March 20, 1936, Dennison, Ohio, Nancy is the daughter of the late Clark and Ethel (McGlaughlin) Eichel.
Nancy graduated from Uhrichsville High School. She was employed as a bank teller, a Longaberger Consultant for many years, she made and sold candles with a longtime friend and also helped a friend at a country store. Most of her later years were spent as a wonderful homemaker. She was a member of the Moravian Church in Gnadenhutten and a former treasurer for the Gnadenhutten United Methodist Church and later part of the Ladies Circle as a member of the Moravian Church.
Nancy loved crafts of any sort, from making macramé purses and trees, to making and decorating grapevine trees, making fleece blankets for grandchildren and family and friends. She was an avid knitter, making ponchos, slippers, and hundreds of dishcloths to which she loved giving away. She also was a good sewer, able to make clothes and curtains.
Nancy enjoyed camping 19 years with her husband at Tappan Lake where she made long lasting friendships. Her greatest enjoyment was family gatherings and grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy.
On April 8, 1956, Nancy married Phil Roth, who survives of the home. Also surviving are her three children Mark (Jill) Roth of Dennison; Kevin Roth of Gnadenhutten and Amy (Mark) Somodi of Tiffin, Ohio; ten grandchildren Cory Roth (Chelsea Williams), Casey (Gary) Chowns, Callie (Brandon) Cherry, Clark (Lacey) Roth, Jerod (Shonna) Roth, Brooke (Josh) Piccin; Megan (Austin) Schultz, Lauren (William) Sims, Nicholas Somodi and Kara Somodi; along with thirteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by a sister Shirley (Robert) Henry and a great grandson Beau Schultz.
Funeral services for Nancy will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with the Pastor Dave Geyer officiating. Burial will follow at Gnadenhutten Clay Union Cemetery in Gnadenhutten.
Calling hours will be from 4-7 on Monday, August 26, 2024, at the funeral home.
