Nathan E. Carson, age 69, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, February 21, 2023, in Aultman Hospital at Canton following a period of declining health.

Born on April 9, 1953, in Clarksburg, West Virginia Nathan was a son of the late Gail W. Carson and Wilma Jenkins Carson Stout. 

He was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg and entered into the United States Airforce where he was a POW during the Vietnam War.

Upon his release from the Airforce, Nathan began a lengthy career as a truck driver where he worked as both an independent driver and for fleet providers. Those who knew Nathan were well aware of his kind, compassionate, fun-loving, and often strong-willed personality. He enjoyed music having had the ability to play both the drums and guitar. He loved to make others laugh and in his free-time enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on muscle cars and above all spending time with his family.

He will be deeply missed by his family Gay-Lynn Carson whom he has shared his life with for more than a decade and married on April 9, 2016; his bonus family, Jonathan Wheeler of the home, Jason (Lisa) Wheeler of Westerville, Michael (Tabitha) Johnson of New Philadelphia, and his “adopted daughter”, Erin (Clyde) Gray of Magnolia; grandchildren, Nick, Katrianna, Mariela, Lily, and Zachary a brother-in-law, Randy (Linda) Clements and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother and father, Nathan was preceded in death by a step-father, Harry Stout; two brothers, Gail Carson, Jr., and Timothy Carson, and sister, Melody Burch.

The family will greet guests during a light reception on Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia.
