New Philadelphia’s Tuscora Park is hosting this year’s National Night Out for Tuscarawas County on Tuesday, August 4th.
It’s an annual nationwide event on the first Tuesday in August designed to strengthen the relationships between neighbors and law enforcement.
New Philadelphia Police Chief Tessa Pohovey says Tuscarawas County got involved last year. Organizers plan to host the event in a different community each summer.
“National Night Out has been going on for a few years now. Dover held it last year, so this year that’s why we are having it in New Phila. It’s open to the entire county.”
She says National Night Out lets people to see police officers outside of when they call for help or need something.
“It’s not just law enforcement; there’s going to be a lot of local agencies there. So just a great community event to get people together.”
Guests can enjoy food trucks, face painting, and other family activities from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 4 on the hilltop at Tuscora Park.
