Mary Alice Reporting –
The Village of Newcomerstown has received notification that a bridge can no longer hold two vehicles at a time.
The State of Ohio Bridge Inspection gave the report of the deterioration regarding the Neighbor Street Bridge, with the problem concentrated on the south side.
Mayor Pat Cadle posted that they are going to keep the bridge open; however, the south roadway will be closed with barrels.
The structure is scheduled to be replaced in 2025 and the Village has qualified for a $971,000 grant. The entire price is $1.35 million.
The mayor added that the bridge would remain open as one-lane unless more safety concerns would present.
