Beth Gundy retired from the New Philadelphia auditor’s position and a new appointment has been made.

The Tuscarawas County Republican Party Central Committee met and considered three applications but one person did not have a Republican voting record.

Committee Chairman Joel Day says following consideration of the two remaining candidates, Heather Denham ultimately won the appointment.

Day, also mayor of New Philadelphia, says he works closely with the auditor and given her background, Denham knows how the city operates.

“I think it was a good selection. I think she’ll do well because of her knowledge of the city and also because of her knowledge in the auditor’s office. She’s been the administrative assistant for the auditor for the past two and a half, three years.”

Denham has been employed with the city, in various capacities, for 27 years.
