The New Philadelphia Airport Commission is creating more space for pilots to keep their planes at Harry Clever Field.

Commission chair Don Kennedy says the plan is to construct a 12-bay hangar off Delaware Drive south of the last one from 2019, with the new one hopefully finished in 2026.

He says they currently have a waiting list of about 18 pilots wanting bays at the airport.

Kennedy says the estimated cost for the project is 1.2 million dollars.  Part of that would be covered by a 500-thousand dollar loan from the state infrastructure bank, which would be paid for by rental fees.

Kennedy says the airport is also getting 740-thousand dollars for the project from the federal bipartisan infrastructure bill.
