Mary Alice Reporting –
Thanks to an Ohio Department of Health grant, extended access to Naloxone, an overdose reversal drug, is now available at the Tuscarawas County Health Department.
Public Health Educator Lakyn Craig says this is the first Naloxbox for Tuscarawas County.
“Anyone can walk into the lobby and pick-up a free Naloxone kit with no questions asked. The box also includes instructions and resources for opioid overdose response in both Spanish and English, and we have Hope Line resources.”
Access is available during office hours on Monday’s, Wednesday’s, and Friday’s from 8am to 4pm, on Tuesday’s from 8am to 7pm, and on Thursday’s from 8am to 6pm.
“We’re using this as a pilot project at the Tuscarawas County Health Department. We’re excited to say that the box was already utilized in the first 24-hours of it being placed in the lobby.”
Based upon the usage, another box could be placed somewhere else within the county.
