New Philadelphia Mayor Joel Day is welcoming some additional parking availability downtown after years of attempts by city officials to come up with solutions.

Day is thanking the Tuscarawas County commissioners for making it so permits are no longer needed to park after-hours at three lots downtown from 6 pm to 6 am on weekdays and all-day Saturdays and Sundays. This is for the courthouse lot, the old jail lot at Fair Avenue northeast, and the Front Avenue southeast lot across from the fire station.

Day also credits the New Philadelphia advancing our community together organization for addressing this.

“Members of the NPact parking committee have been working for several months with the County Commissioners to make the county lots available and opening those lots should be a great benefit for the downtown businesses.”

Day says there’s also evening and weekend parking downtown at the lots at city hall and at the city lot by the mini-shop drive thru on south Broadway and Allen Lane.
