Nick McWilliams reporting – Courts for the new craze pickleball will soon be available at Tuscora Park.

New Philadelphia city officials, construction workers, and pickleball enthusiasts were on hand Monday for the official groundbreaking.

Tuscora Park Foundation Board Member Tom Farbizo was pleased with the turnout and welcomed in residents from all around to try the sport.

“I’m not a player, [but] I probably will because I call it tennis for seniors and I guess that’s where I’m at. I’m anxious to see it. It will be four courts, fenced in, and lit.”

Around a dozen members of the T-County Pickleball Club were in attendance, expressing their excitement for the new attraction.

The location for the courts is directly beside the tennis courts along Al Maloney Midway. Other tennis courts that were seldom used were removed for the project.

To date, over $190,000 has been raised for the project, according to the banner in front of the site, and work is expected to wrap up in around two months.
