Nick McWilliams reporting – The city of New Philadelphia recognized a trio of service workers for actions above and beyond their line of work.

Triston Hunter, Mike Brinkley, and Donny Pettitt, who was unable to attend, received praise during the latest council session.

Day told council that the workers were the difference makers In ensuring the safety of a resident who found herself in an emergency situation last month.

“They were driving in a city vehicle on Park Avenue Northwest, when they saw an elderly resident fall down the steps outside of her home. They stopped to check on her, called 9-1-1, and stayed with the resident until the paramedics arrived. Had they not responded so quickly, it’s uncertain how long the woman would’ve gone without help.”

The workers received certificates of accommodation from Day and the city, recognizing their actions on that day.

The mayor also expressed his gratitude for their dedication to the residents of the city.
