New Philadelphia and Dover are climbing the economic development rankings for small cities.
New Philadelphia-Dover is ranked third in the nation in Site Selection magazine’s Top Micropolitans, or urban areas with a population between 10,000 and 50,000. The ranking counts projects that invest 1 million dollars, create 20 or more jobs, or build 20,000 square feet. New Philadelphia-Dover has 15 of those, tied with Wooster and behind Findlay with 24 and Greenville, Ohio, with 16. Cullman, Alabama, is the only non-Ohio city to crack the top five.
One of the project’s getting a lot of attention is the Schaeffler manufacturing facility under construction in north Dover, projected to add 450 new jobs.
