The New Philadelphia Lions Club recently selected its 74th Rose Queen, with their yearly rose sale fundraiser ongoing downtown in the city.

The Lions crowned Sarah Ciereszewski, a senior at New Phila High School, as queen during an annual banquet at Ricardo’s.

The attendants on the court are Avae Buss and Shelby Miller, who are both seniors at Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School.

Ciereszewski plays volleyball, basketball, and softball for the Quakers, and plans on continuing her athletic career in college, with the intent to major in sports management.

Buss plays basketball for the Saints, and volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters and with Sacred Heart Church. She plans on pursuing a career in fashion, nursing, or law enforcement.

Miller is a member of the Creative Writing Club and Academic Challenge at TCC, volunteering for the St. Joe’s Festival. She plans on attending Aultman College in radiologic technology.

The Lions Rose Sale is set to continue Friday and Saturday on the square in New Phila, with a dozen roses available for $20. Proceeds will help support community organizations, along with the International Association of Lions Clubs pursuit of eliminating blindness and eye-related illnesses.
