With rent money being collected on donated property, New Philadelphia’s mayor would like to create a special fund.
The city received property on Bank Lane SE and on that parcel, a storage building is being rented to a Cleveland area company.
Mayor Joel Day says he would like to use the collected money to provide grants.
“I would like to use the rent money to create an economic development fund that could provide grants and loans to downtown businesses to improve building facades and make other improvements.”
Council’s president placed the proposal into committee for further discussion.
