Mary Alice Reporting –

During Monday’s Council meeting, New Philadelphia’s Service Director gave an update on paving and other projects.

Details were given regarding the Quaker Stadium project and Ron McAbier noted that steel fabrication is ongoing. The goal is to have the material delivered by July 5th so that work can begin on the 8th, to meet the August 5th deadline, with siding the only item potentially left to do.

The Service Director added that paving for 2024 continues with completion now done around the courthouse quadrant.

“But we still have First Drive, from Allen Lane to E. High, and since then they had a construction issue in the alley behind Michael’s Restaurant, that compromised the Visitor’s Bureau. Benchmark came in and rebuilt a wall that they accidentally knocked in during that process.”

The CVB remains closed as damage assessment continues but until then, according to the information center, a visitor kiosk is open for pick-up of Travel Tusc Tickets and staff remain available by email.

McAbier added that they had a final walk through for a CDBG project and some details need done like cleaning up markings on the curb strip and reseeding.
