New Phila to Spend Almost $1 Million on Paving

Over ten roadways are on the list for paving in the City of New Philadelphia.

Newton Asphalt will perform the work and are projected to start after the July 4^th holiday.

Service Director Ron McAbier says the city budgeted $665,000 and then with an E. High Avenue section, total cost is just shy of $1 million. He notes that this year, there is a concentration on more side roads.

“We really wanted to take care of the downtown because of the Art in the Alley, It’s a great event and some of those alley ways, if anyone has been back in them, are rough at best.”

The goal is to get the area around the square done in mid-June.

One of the bigger, or more impactful, projects McAbier points out will be phase two of 3^rd Street NW.

“We did like a phase one of it last year and so now you’ll be able to get from St. Clair all the way out to 4^th Street, so all the way to Wabash Avenue so that’ll be a big stretch that’s done.”

Motorists are reminded to use caution once crews begin and to slow down and put away distractions in work zones.
