National Fire Prevention Week continues with more area fire departments hosting open houses.

New Philadelphia’s is this Thursday from 5 to 7 pm. Fire captain Jim Sholtz says they will have popcorn and hotdogs, demonstrations, and all the trucks will be available to tour.

Sholtz says this year’s national fire prevention week campaign focuses on making sure you have working smoke alarms.

Meanwhile Uhrichsville firefighter Shane Dorland says his station’s open house is also Thursday from 5:30 to 7 pm, adding that they’ll teach hands-on CPR for those interested.

And then the Sugarcreek fire department is having its open house along with a pancake breakfast Saturday morning from 8 am until noon.  Meals will be by donation only.
