A suspect is in custody following an early morning pursuit through New Philadelphia.
The chase started in the one o’clock hour, on Thursday, when a caller notified police of an erratic driver on E. High Avenue, near Dollar General.
New Philadelphia police responded, says Captain Don Woods, and they attempted to conduct a traffic stop; however, the driver fled.
The pursuit on city streets went out toward Tuscora Park and through residential neighborhoods before the driver crashed on 2nd Drive at St Clair Avenue.
Captain Woods says the vehicle went through a residential yard and hit the homeowners’ vehicle that was parked in the driveway.
