New Philadelphia City School officials are sharing a few additions parents will notice at buildings and for the buses.

Superintendent Carole Sutton says they are initiating a new service called BusRight, which is an app parents or guardians can download.

“That GPS service will be able to account for the buses movements, the bus routing, and parents will have an app where they can track their bus and their student pending for their arrival.”

Students will receive a card that they will scan when getting on their designated bus.

Sutton says this will be implemented in phases.

“Starting with the middle school September 1st, we’ll move to the high school the week after that, and then after we do our week long elementary bus safety week September 14th we’ll move forward with elementary students on the 21st.”

Sutton adds they’re also adding more security to several buildings and any visitors will need to have their driver’s license.

“Once a visitor is cleared, they’re going to get a badge printed out with their picture on it. It lets us know who’s in the building and where they’re supposed to be. We’ll store that data for about 90 days. That gives us real time information about whose coming into our buildings.”

Students official first day is August 20th.
