Officials with New Philadelphia Fire Department will compile data after they were selected to participate in a survey.
Every national provider, identifier across the nation as chosen to enter this data in the Ground Ambulance Data Collection Survey.
Ambulance Billing Specialist Denise Phillips says they will put together data from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023.
“It covers the organizational characteristics of our fire department, our service areas, emergency response times, service volume, service mix, labor costs, facilities cost, vehicles costs, equipment and consumable supply costs, [and] total costs and revenues generated.”
If the department would not participate, Phillips says they would lose 10-percent of all Medicare in 2025, which based upon this year’s ambulance billing numbers would be over $12,000.
The overall purpose is to assess if Medicare is paying ambulance transports at an adequate rate.
