New Philadelphia City Schools held a community meeting to discuss the schools’ future.
The Wednesday meeting invited stakeholders of the district to give their visions, as well as opinions on the school going forward,
Superintendent Amy Wentworth says their top goal is modernizing the schools.
“Our buildings in our district are an average age of eighty years old. They’re aging, they don’t contain up-to-date safety and security features, they don’t contain up-to-date technology spaces, and we want to make sure that our students are properly educated to face their futures.”
Wentworth says the district hired Then Design Architecture who, over the summer, analyzed the different schools’ needs. The results of the analysis and estimated costs were discussed at the meeting.
Wentworth notes that a plan will be put into place after hearing the community’s feedback.
The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 24th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Front Avenue Administrative Building.
