Gwen Rummell Reporting –

A New Philadelphia man has changed his plea following an amended indictment.

Xavier Schott was charged with attempted murder with a 5-year firearm specification, felonious assault with a 5-year firearm specification, attempted kidnapping with a 3-year firearm specification, improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or a school safety zone, and two counts of conspiracy.

Judge Michael Ernest granted an indictment amended by the state.

“I’m going to grant the state’s motion then to amend the indictment, as I said, it is contingent upon you pleading guilty and being found guilty of these crimes. That then narrows the discussion in some ways, Xavier, as what we need to talk about. You are now facing an amended superseding indictment.”

The amended indictment removed charges three through six and changed the first two counts to a 3-year firearm specification.

Schott pled guilty and a sentencing date will soon be set.
